Round 1 Game 1 Victory for Koufax and Los Angeles
Sandy Koufax and the Los Angeles Dodgers opened the Round 1 in brilliant fashion, shutting out the visiting San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium, 5-0, and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Koufax, the Dodgers left-hander, threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball.

Koufax, who was born in Brooklyn, New York, threw 102 pitches over 7 innings, while allowing no runs.

"There's nothing like the postseason," said Koufax, "to ramp up the pressure."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.
