Grove, Athletics Get Tidy 2-0 Win Over Detroit
In a tension-filled contest between the Oakland Athletics and the Detroit Tigers, pitcher Lefty Grove was superb. The Oakland left-hander, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in quality starts with 6, spearheaded his team's 2-0 win. Dennis Eckersley, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 7th save.
