The Cleveland Indians beat the Seattle Mariners, 6-4. Cleveland pitcher and Birmingham, Alabama, native Corey Kluber led the way. The win went to Rafael Betancourt in relief. His record improves to 2-1. J J Putz took the loss. Addie Joss saved it for Cleveland.

Bobby Avila was 1 for 3 for Cleveland. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Avila had a clutch at-bat. Facing Seattle hurler J J Putz, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Indians a 5-4 lead.

"Corey gets on the mound and he competes and that's what you want," said Cleveland manager .

Cleveland is now 15-19, while Seattle is 15-22.
