Round 1 Goes the Distance, New York Prevails
The fans in New York are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Chicago.

The New York Yankees finished off the Chicago White Sox 5-2 in the deciding game of the Round 1 played at Yankee Stadium.

They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the Round 2.

For his standout play, New York left fielder Joe DiMaggio was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.

He batted .407, drove in 5 runs and scored 4 to lead his club to victory.

"We could never really figure out how to pitch to DiMaggio and that doomed us," said White Sox manager . "Hats off to New York, though. That was a great series."

The New York Yankees will play against the Houston Astros in the next round. Houston won their series against the Minnesota Twins 4 games to 3. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
