Brown Helps Los Angeles Outscore Texas
The Los Angeles Angels outscored the Texas Rangers, 13-11. Among the hitting stars was center fielder Willard Brown. Brown, who is tied for 6th in the AL in doubles with 12, was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 4 runs. The win was credited to Jarrod Washburn in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Matt Harrison took the loss. Troy Percival locked down his 5th save.

Andrelton Simmons, who is tied for 8th in the AL in stolen bases with 6, had a timely hit in the bottom of the fifth inning. With no one out and the bases loaded, the Los Angeles shortstop hit a 2-run single. That put the Angels in front, 8-7.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Simmons.

Los Angeles is now 16-18, while Texas is 17-20.
