Victors Again, Houston Win Streak at 8
|
The winning streak continued for Houston.
Houston used a superb performance from starting pitcher Gerrit Cole to down the New York Yankees, 5-1. The winner was Cole. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Stan Bahnsen.
The Yankees had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Astros going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old center fielder Richard Hidalgo came to the plate. Hidalgo hit a 2-run double on a first pitch fastball from New York hurler David Robertson. It was Hidalgo's 5th double of the year.
"I went after the hitters," said Cole. "No pussyfooting around."
The Astros have a winning streak of 8 games.
