Late Rally by Mariners Secures 3-1 Win
|
Seattle took on Baltimore in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Randy D Johnson, in particular, was fantastic. The Seattle left-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-1. Mike Schooler, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The win takes Seattle to 14-18.
Cal Raleigh delivered a big hit for Seattle. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mariners ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"I thought we competed really well," said Mariners manager . "I thought the energy was really good."
