The Texas Rangers got a sterling performance from left fielder Bullet Rogan, but the Oakland Athletics still prevailed, 8-4. Rogan belted 2 home runs. The winning pitcher was Lefty Grove. He tossed 102 pitches over 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. Oakland goes to 19-11.

Mule Suttles had a big bases-clearing triple for the Athletics in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Oakland trailing 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Fergie Jenkins and swatted a triple to center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 4-3.
