Mario Soto brought his A-game to help Cincinnati defeat the Colorado Rockies, 4-0. Johnny Vander Meer earned the save, his 2nd, for the Reds. The first-place Reds go to 68-62.

Cincinnati went up, 2-0, on Heinie Groh's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which Groh hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Colorado pitcher Brian Fuentes shaking his head.

Groh called the triumph "a good team win."
