The Chicago Cubs converted a terrific effort from starter Roosevelt Davis into a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Wrigley Field. The Cubs won the game by a final score of 3-1. Davis yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 5. His record improves to 7-10. Chicago, now 60-74, holds down 4th place in the National League Central Division.
Had Ketel Marte delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Marte grounded out. The score remained 3-1, Chicago, and the Cubs were out of the jam.
