Miami center fielder Turkey Stearnes contributed significantly to his team's 6-3 win over the San Francisco Giants. Stearnes, the 19th overall pick in the 2014 draft, went 3 for 5 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Marlins. Josh Beckett picked up the win in relief. Gary Lavelle took the loss for San Francisco. Bryan Harvey finished to wrap up his 7th save.

Dick Lundy cracked a home run off Gary Lavelle in the bottom of the seventh. His 3-run blast put the Marlins on top, 5-3. In all, Lundy had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
