The Miami Marlins bested the San Francisco Giants, 5-4, at Marlins Ballpark. Mike Lowell was one of the standouts. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Al Leiter, now 3-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. Robb Nen earned his 28th save, after closing out the game.
Dick Lundy, who is tied for 5th in the NL in runs scored with 72, contributed to the Miami win with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 1 RBI.
"We'll grab a barley pop and savor this win," said Lundy.
Miami, at 62-66, sits in last place in the National League Eastern Division.
