9-3 Loss Extends Colorado Losing Streak
The Chicago Cubs topped the Colorado Rockies, 9-3, with center fielder Hack Wilson playing a big role. Wilson went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Cubs in the win. Clark Griffith, the winner, improved to 9-11. He held the Rockies to 1 run on 2 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 4. Chicago has a record of 54-71, placing them last in the National League Central Division.

The Rockies had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Cubs going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old catcher Rick Wilkins came to the plate. Wilkins hit a run-scoring double on a 1-1 slider from Colorado hurler Darren Holmes. It was Wilkins's 11th double of the year.

Colorado manager said: "It seems like every team that's playing us is playing pretty good."
