Nationals Get Extra-Inning, 6-5 Win
The Washington Nationals had to overcome a big game from Miami catcher Charles Johnson to leave Nationals Park with a victory. And they did, winning, 6-5, in 11 innings. Johnson was 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Washington reliever John Wetteland was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Josh Beckett. The second-place Nationals bumped their record to 68-57.

Up to bat in the bottom of the 11th, former first round draft pick Martin Dihigo had a chance to be the hero. Miami pitcher Josh Beckett wanted to foil that plan. But with no outs, Dihigo hit a sacrifice fly. The Nationals had themselves a thrilling win.

"Our team showed some gumption," said Dihigo. "I like it."
