Brewers Topped by Giants, 7-4
|
The San Francisco Giants used the hitting of center fielder Willie Mays to subdue the Milwaukee Brewers, 7-4. For the game, Mays went 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. The first-place Giants have won 4 in a row.
Mays contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for San Francisco in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-1, Mays took a fastball from Mike Caldwell and stroked the home run to left-center. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Giants to leap in front, 5-3.
"There's ebbs and flows in the season and right now we're just looking to finish strong," said Mays.
