Shohei Ohtani was a major factor in the 6-3 Los Angeles win over New York. The Dodgers designated hitter was 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Don Sutton, the winner, improved to 16-7. He held the Mets to 3 runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 6 and walking 3. The Dodgers now have a mark of 69-50.

Ohtani had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-2 fastball from Tug McGraw, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Dodgers a 6-3 lead. It was the 24th home run of the year for Ohtani.

Ohtani told a Los Angeles Chronicle reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
