In a low-scoring affair between New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox, pitcher Lefty Gomez was the difference-maker. The New York left-hander handcuffed the opposition, to help his team pocket a 2-1 win. With the win, New York boosts its record to 15-11.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Yankees had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when second baseman Tony Lazzeri hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Eddie Cicotte and made the score 2-0, Yankees. Lazzeri went 1-3.
