Madlock Delivers Walk-Off Win for Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates, despite a fine performance by Milwaukee pitcher Mike Caldwell, grabbed a 3-2 win at PNC Park. Caldwell allowed no runs over 7 innings. The win went to Joel Hanrahan in relief. His record improves to 4-6. Doug Henry took the loss. Pittsburgh, now 50-65, holds down 4th place in the National League Central Division.

The Pirates procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Bill Madlock. In the bottom of the tenth, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Madlock said in his postgame press conference.
