Giants Lasso 4-1 Victory
|
San Francisco used a superb performance from starting pitcher Johnny Wright to down the New York Mets, 4-1. The winner was Wright. He threw 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball. The loser was Terris McDuffie. Their 66-47 record puts the Giants first in the National League Western Division.
Monte Irvin helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a run-scoring single to give San Francisco a 1-0 lead.
Irvin called the win "what playing unselfish baseball looks like."
