Jose Rijo, who is tied for 7th in the NL in complete games with 1, had a strong outing for the Cincinnati Reds against the Philadelphia Phillies at Great American Ball Park. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-1 win. The save went to Noodles Hahn, his 1st this season. The Reds, at 56-53, sit in first place in the National League Central Division.

In the bottom of the sixth, Cincinnati third baseman Aaron Boone had a run-producing at-bat. Facing Philadelphia hurler Chris Short, Boone hit a sacrifice fly. That made the score 2-0, Cincinnati. For the day, Boone drove in one run.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Boone told the Cincinnati Bulletin.
