Bruce Hurst was locked in. The left-hander led the San Diego Padres to a 6-5 win against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Petco Park. Luke Gregerson picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Kent Tekulve suffered the loss. San Diego, now 49-61, holds down 4th place in the National League Western Division.

San Diego got a knockout punch from Adrian Gonzalez. The pinch hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Gonzalez, "and then get after it again."
