Andy Benes pitched well, but the San Diego Padres still lost the game, falling, 2-1, to the Pittsburgh Pirates at Petco Park. Pittsburgh starter Howie Camnitz was credited with the win after throwing 91 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 5-11. Joel Hanrahan earned the save for Pittsburgh, his 20th.

Honus Wagner, who leads the NL in stolen bases with 29, helped out the Pittsburgh cause in the top of the sixth inning with a run-scoring double. For the game, the third baseman went 1-4 with a double.

"Anytime I can help the team, I feel good about it," said Wagner.

At 48-61, Pittsburgh is in 4th place in the National League Central Division.
