Down Goes Los Angeles, 3-1
|
The Washington Nationals downed the Los Angeles Dodgers, 3-1, at Nationals Park. Stellar pitching by Henry McHenry had a lot to do with it. The right-hander, who is tied for 8th in the NL in quality starts with 17, handcuffed his opponent all game. McHenry yielded 1 run over 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 13-6. Earning the save was Tim Burke. He's now cashed in 32 of 36 save opportunities.
Juan Soto hit a 2-run home run off Orel Hershiser in the bottom of the third, which put the Nationals ahead, 3-1. In addition to the homer, Soto had 1 double, while going 2 for 3.
"Tough loss," said Los Angeles manager . "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
At 60-47, the Nationals are currently second in the National League Eastern Division.
