Giants Saddle Diamondbacks with 3-2 Loss
|
AT&T Park was the site for National League action featuring the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Francisco Giants.
San Francisco Giants starter Johnny Wright was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, 3-2. San Francisco reliever Gary Lavelle snagged the win, upping his record to 8-2. Brandon Webb shouldered the loss.
The Giants used some clutch hitting to beat the Diamondbacks, a good example being the at-bat of Monte Irvin in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, Irvin gave his team the lead, 3-2, when he hit a run-scoring single.
Irvin told a San Francisco Citizen reporter that he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
The win boosts the Giants to 62-46. The loss puts the Diamondbacks at 48-63.
