The losses keep piling up for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Los Angeles Dodgers converted a terrific effort from starter Orel Hershiser into a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. The Dodgers won the game by a final score of 5-2. The winner was Hershiser. He threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The loser was Bob Veale.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Duke Snider? The Los Angeles center fielder had a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dodgers on top, 2-0. For the game, Snider had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We're in a funk right now," said Pittsburgh skipper .
With the win, the Dodgers hiked their record to 61-44.
