Slumping Pirates Lose Again
Conditions were not ideal but Los Angeles and Pittsburgh were able to put their game in the books.

Los Angeles pitcher Dazzy Vance did his part in helping his team beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Don Drysdale earned the save for Los Angeles, his 3rd.

Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Jack Fournier? The Los Angeles first baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Dodgers on top, 4-3. For the game, Fournier had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We bring energy to every game," said losing manager . "But it's got to translate into wins."

Los Angeles, now 60-44, holds down first place in the National League Western Division.
