The Miami Marlins defeated the San Diego Padres, 9-4. Shortstop Buster Clarkson deserved a large share of the credit. Clarkson belted 2 home runs. He scored 4 runs and drove in 3 for the Marlins. Livan Hernandez recorded the save for Miami, his 3rd of the season. The setback makes San Diego 41-57.

Miami second baseman Miguel Rojas contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 60th hit of the season and put the Marlins ahead, 6-4.

"No complaints from me," said Marlins manager . "I like what I saw out there."
