With 5-3 Win, Giants Go to 55-43
San Francisco pitcher Johnny Wright did his part in helping his team beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Wright, now 5-6, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Picking up the save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Brian Wilson.

Bill Terry had a big 2-run double for the Giants in the top of the seventh inning. With San Francisco leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Stan Belinda and swatted a double to left. It was his 13th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Giants ahead, 5-0.

"This was a good win," said Wright.

San Francisco is now 55-43, Pittsburgh 45-53.
