Nationals Slip Past Rockies, 10-6
|
The Washington Nationals defeated the Colorado Rockies by the score of 10-6, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Tim Raines Sr. Raines Sr was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Nationals on the day. Washington reliever Stephen Strasburg picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Taylor Buchholz was tagged with the loss. Tim Burke earned his 27th save, after closing out the game.
Nick Johnson delivered a big hit for Washington. The first baseman drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Nationals ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit, but it was a beauty.
"Good win for us," said Raines Sr. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
Washington is now 55-42.
