The home crowd had a good time watching the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets get after it.

The New York Mets eked out a 3-2 win versus the Chicago Cubs at Citi Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Hilton Smith. He was terrific. Smith, the winner, moves to 11-5. He threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks.

Making an impact for the home team was Lenny Dykstra. In the bottom of the first, the 30-year old center fielder had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 2-0, Mets.

"It'd be nice to win by four or five runs," Dykstra said, "instead of holding our breath the whole game."

The Mets now own a record of 54-46.
