Big Day by Blackmon Sparks 7-4 Colorado Win
|
Conditions were not ideal but Colorado and Pittsburgh were able to put their game in the books.
The performance of Charlie Blackmon proved critical in helping Colorado beat Pittsburgh, 7-4. The Rockies center fielder went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. Colorado reliever Matt Belisle picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Kent Tekulve took the loss.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Blackmon delivered big-time for Colorado, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Kent Tekulve. The game-changing hit put the Rockies on top, 5-4.
Said Colorado manager : "Our approach was outstanding all night long."
Colorado, now 45-48, holds down third place in the National League Western Division.
