Milwaukee Drops Another One, 7-2
The Milwaukee Brewers could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Mike Caldwell into a win. Instead, the New York Mets prevailed, 7-2. Caldwell threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Skip Lockwood got credit for the save for New York. It was his 2nd of the year. The win for the Mets raised their record to 49-43.

New York used the hitting of David Wright to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Mets on top, 3-1. For the game, Wright had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
