Mets Rally to Tally 4-2 Win
|
Getting offensive support from Pete Alonso, the New York Mets topped the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-2. Alonso was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Mets. New York reliever John Franco picked up the win to move to 3-4. Rollie Fingers suffered the loss. Tom Seaver sewed up the save, his 17th.
Alonso had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 2-2 slider from Rollie Fingers, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Mets a 4-2 lead. It was the 19th home run of the year for Alonso.
"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Alonso.
After today's action, New York sits at 48-43; Milwaukee slips to 39-49.
