Nationals Use Late Surge to Win
The Washington Nationals grabbed a win, 5-4, over the St. Louis Cardinals at Nationals Park. Washington center fielder Andre Dawson was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Washington pitcher Tim Burke got the win, upping his record to 3-4. Al Hrabosky got the loss. Washington, now 49-39, holds down second place in the National League Eastern Division.

Spike Owen delivered a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the Nationals. For the game, Owen drove in one run.
