Pirates Use Late Rally to Win
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Cincinnati Reds.

The Cincinnati Reds could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Satchel Paige into a win. Instead, the Pittsburgh Pirates prevailed, 4-1. Paige threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. Pittsburgh is now 41-47.

Roberto Clemente came through with a big-time hit for Pittsburgh. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"Confidence breeds confidence," Pittsburgh manager said, "and confidence breeds success."
