Cubs Come Back Late to Top Giants, 1-0
The Chicago Cubs had to overcome a good performance from San Francisco pitcher Christy Mathewson to claim a 1-0 win at Wrigley Field. Mathewson went 8.1 innings and allowed no runs. Chicago reliever Randy Myers picked up the win, while Sergio Romo took the loss for San Francisco. Chicago, now 40-49, holds down 4th place in the National League Central Division.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Chicago. That's when 32-year old right fielder Sammy Sosa hit a run-scoring double off Sergio Romo to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"This place was rockin'," Sosa said.
