Cubs Grind Out 2-1 Win
The Chicago Cubs earned a win at Wrigley Field, knocking off the San Francisco Giants, 2-1. On the bump for Chicago was right-hander Mordecai Brown. He had a starring role in the triumph. Chicago reliever Lee Smith picked up the win to move to 4-2. Joe McGinnity suffered the loss. Chicago, now 39-49, holds down last place in the National League Central Division.

Riggs Stephenson aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 3 with a triple.

Chicago manager attributed the win to "a little bit of this and a little bit of that."
