Smith Leads Mets to 4-0 Win over Padres
|
The New York Mets got a good effort from starter Hilton Smith in defeating the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. The final score was 4-0. The Mets improved their record to 44-41 by beating San Diego.
Smith, a native of Giddings, Texas, was dealing all game. He kept San Diego hitters off-balance, while giving the Mets 7.1 quality innings. Smith threw 104 pitches, allowing 6 hits and striking out 9.
