Braves Rally to Win
|
The Atlanta Braves did just enough to secure a victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, 5-4, in 18 innings at Turner Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Phil Niekro. Atlanta reliever Phil Niekro got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Miguel Batista was tagged with the loss. The Braves, at 41-46, inhabit last place in the National League Eastern Division.
The Braves got a clutch hit from right fielder David Justice. In the bottom of the 18th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Braves.
"Games like this is what baseball's all about," said Braves manager .
