Astros Win with Late Heroics
|
The Toronto Blue Jays could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Doyle Alexander into a win. Instead, the Houston Astros prevailed, 4-3, in 10 innings. Alexander threw 6.2 innings of 2-hit ball. Houston reliever Larry Andersen picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Duane Ward absorbed the loss. The loss has the Blue Jays at 11-8.
Houston got a clutch hit from Richard Hidalgo. The center fielder launched a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a kill shot.
Hidalgo attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
