Snider Powers Dodgers to 7-2 Win
|
Behind the bravura of center fielder Duke Snider, the Los Angeles Dodgers topped the San Diego Padres by the score of 7-2. Snider went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Dodgers. Sandy Koufax got the win, improving to 6-6. He held the Padres to 2 runs on 5 hits over 7.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The win elevated the Dodgers to 45-36.
Had Snider not come through in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Snider hit a 2-run single. The Dodgers never looked back after taking the 4-2 lead.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Los Angeles skipper .
