Washington Topples Atlanta, 8-4
|
The 3-RBI night of left fielder Wilson Redus, who is on pace for 109 RBI this season, helped the Washington Nationals triumph, 8-4, over the Atlanta Braves. Washington starter Dennis Martinez was credited with the win after throwing 100 pitches over 6.1 innings. His record now stands at 3-4. With the victory, the Nationals record stands at 43-36.
Juan Soto had a big 2-run triple for the Nationals in the bottom of the third inning. With Washington leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a knuckleball from Sam Crawford, who is tied for 9th in the NL with a 1.04 WHIP, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Nationals ahead, 4-0.
"Helping the team win is what it's all about," said Soto.
