Raines Sr Swings Nationals to 8-2 Win
The 8-2 Washington win over Milwaukee was due in large part to Tim Raines Sr. The Nationals right fielder went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Jeff Fassero earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Washington is 42-36 and Milwaukee, with the loss, 35-43.

Washington took the lead, 3-2, on Gary Carter's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Carter hit in the bottom of the seventh, made Milwaukee pitcher Mark Clear wince.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager .
