Reds Earn 3-2 Win Against Cubs
|
Cincinnati Reds starter Jose Rijo turned in a sterling performance against the Chicago Cubs, leading his team to a thin, 3-2 win in 10 innings. Picking up the save was Aroldis Chapman, his 4th. The 'W' lifts Cincinnati's record to 42-37.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Joe L Morgan to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Reds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Chicago manager said: "No matter what the wins or losses say, there are a bunch of guys in the clubhouse who don't really care. We know we haven't played well this season but we're not going to give up."
