Cincinnati Reds starter Jose Rijo pitched a strong game against the Miami Marlins at Great American Ball Park, leading the Reds to victory, 4-2. Cincinnati pitcher Tom Hume earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Josh Johnson suffered the loss. Rob Dibble earned the save for Cincinnati, his 20th.

The Reds got a big at-bat from first baseman Joey Votto. For the game, Votto was 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 13th double of the season gave Cincinnati a 3-2 lead.

"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Votto.

Cincinnati is second in the National League Central Division with a record of 40-37.
