Rockies Chop Down Brewers, 6-3
|
In the 6-3 Colorado win over Milwaukee, the impact of Charlie Blackmon was substantial. Blackmon, who is on pace for 209 hits this season, was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. The winning pitcher was Nip Winters. His record now stands at 8-2. The left-hander went 7.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits for the Rockies. Huston Street closed it out for his 14th save.
Nolan Arenado had a big 3-run home run for the Rockies in the bottom of the third inning. With Colorado leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Cal Eldred and swatted a home run to left. It was his 13th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rockies ahead, 5-1.
"No complaints from me," said Rockies manager . "I like what I saw out there."
At 36-37, Colorado is in third place in the National League Western Division.
