Nationals Axe Phillies, 12-4
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.

The Washington Nationals marched over the Philadelphia Phillies, 12-4, at Nationals Park. Spike Owen led the charge. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs. Steve Rogers picked up the win, improving his season record to 7-8. He struck out 5 in 6.2 innings.

In the bottom of the third, former first round draft pick Martin Dihigo hit a 2-run home run. The 17th home run of the season for the Washington center fielder put the Nationals on top, 5-3.

"It's disappointing, but we have to move on," Philadelphia manager said: "You're going to have games like that."

The second-place Nationals have a record of 40-34.
