Brewers Defeated, 4-3, After Pittsburgh Rallies
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates racked up a win at Miller Park, bumping off the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3. Sam Streeter, who started for Pittsburgh, pitched effectively for his team. The third-place Pirates are 36-38.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Paul Waner to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 17th inning to put the Pirates on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 8 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"To become 'battle-tested,'" said Waner, "you need to compete in this kind of contest."
