Late Rally Gets Padres 6-3 Win
|
San Diego went toe-to-toe with Washington before a winner was decided.
The San Diego Padres topped the Washington Nationals, 6-3, in 10 innings at Nationals Park. The game was highlighted by the performance of San Diego pitcher Bruce Hurst. Scott Linebrink snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 1.1 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season.
Charlie Blackwell came through with a big-time hit for San Diego. The pinch hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the tenth inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"This ballgame left me feeling kind of raw," said Washington manager .
San Diego now owns a record of 33-40.
