New York Still On the Schneid After 9-5 Loss to Nationals
|
The Washington Nationals topped the New York Mets, 9-5, in National League action at Citi Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Washington pitcher Henry McHenry. With the win, Washington upped its record to 37-31.
Martin Dihigo had a big 3-run home run for the Nationals in the top of the fifth inning. With Washington leading 4-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a changeup from Dwight Gooden, who is tied for 6th in the NL in complete games with 1, and punished it. The result was his 16th home run of the season, which put the Nationals on top, 7-1.
"Same old, same old, unfortunately," said losing manager .
